Wellbeing and Inclusion

 Mrs Courtney Hoffmann

What an amazing celebration of our school community at the 30th Celebration on the weekend! Congratulations and thank you to everyone that was able to make the day such a success!

As Term 4 continues to progress I wanted to share with our school community the programs that operate everyday in our school to support our students social and emotional development and wellbeing.

Lunchtime Clubs

At Karoo, our students are lucky enough to have access to a variety of lunchtime clubs. Alternative play options provide students a safe and calming place to socialise with their peers. Many of our lunchtime clubs are run by our student leaders, giving them the opportunity to practice their leadership skills. Clubs are chosen via student surveys conducted by our student council. The current lunch clubs we have available for students are; coding, colouring, drama, scavenger Hunts, card games, board games, drawing and mindfulness. The library is also open at both recess and lunch play times.

Inclusive School Communities state that the introduction of lunchtime clubs can help students who are at risk of experiencing social isolation manage the traditionally unstructured time of the school day. The benefits of a lunchtime clubs include but are not limited to promoting peer social acceptance, improvement of social skills and increasing the feeling of safety at school.

Below are some photos of our students enjoying the Discovery Learning Club and the Construction Club.

Enjoy your week and look forward to seeing everyone at our lunchtime clubs!

Kind Regards,
