A word from the Principal

Mrs Danielle Heatley

What a week we have had, I can't believe that we are nearly 1/2 way through Term 4.  A few reminders below and then I hope you enjoy some fabulous photos below of the Carnival on Sunday!

2023 Foundation Transition

Prep Transition sessions begin tomorrow for students enrolled at Karoo PS in 2023. We have commenced liaising with local kinders and Early Learning Centre's to ensure we are establishing a strong support network for you and your child as they commence their primary school journey.

If you have not yet enrolled your child for prep, then please do so immediately so that we are able to account for them in our planning and preparation and ensure your child is well equipped to start next year.

You can contact the office on 97596222 or karoo.ps@education.vic.gov.au for enrolment information.

We will be holding information sessions for parents/carers on each of the transition mornings and a final information presentation on 23rd November at 6pm here at the school.

Embrace - KIDS

A reminder about a great opportunity.   I have invited families to come to the movies and see this must see documentary!  I honestly can't recommend this enough and see it as essential viewing for all children 8+.  As we are booking the cinema through Fanfare, the price for the movie is set through them as it is community viewing, not a block buster movie with the funding that backs it.  The documentary reinforces how children should value their individuality, be proud of who they are and love every element of what makes them special.  A message we want for all of our children - plus it is entertaining and humorous too!

Wednesday 16th November, 6:30 pm at Village Cinema Knox for Karoo parents and students in Year 3-6 (family and older siblings can come along as well!) - please note that all students must have a guardian.

For this event to happen, we need to sell a minimum number of tickets.  We have sold 44 tickets already so please ensure you book in quickly so we can make this happen!

30 Year Carnival - Thankyou!!!!

What a day of celebration our school community had on Sunday for our 30th Birthday Carnival!

I am so proud of each and every person who contributed to making it a successful day!  I was reflecting with the students and commented that we were a great big team....the students, the parents, the staff. I truly believe that was my favorite part of the day, how involved so many people were and how committed everyone was to making it a fabulous day.

So many people from outside our Karoo community were blown away by our amazing students and how friendly and welcoming Karoo felt.  Thankyou to everyone who was a part of the day.

Thankyou to the people that came and celebrated or brought along some friends. Thankyou to all the students who were in the spirit and made posters to promote their stall!  Their smiles and infectious laughter was so wonderful to see.

Thankyou to the parents who collected things for stalls and put their hand up to be rostered on.  It really did take a village...and that village we were!

Thankyou to the staff who were not only committed but passionate and enthusiastic along the way about their stall or area of responsibility.  So many hours of work outside of their usual teaching responsibilities and thinking of all the little things like matching t-shirts and glowing stickers to wear!

Thankyou to the KPA and 30 Year Working Party.  We started meeting approximately 9 months ago to begin planning the event.  On top of their normal jobs and parenting responsibilities, they gave so much time and passion to the 30 Year event.  There were weekly meetings, countless emails and texts each week to ensure the day was a success - and boy was it that!

Thankyou to our major sponsor Wilson Storage, our Gold sponsors GMJ, Gen Care and Knox City Council who were so generous in their sponsorship.  Our Silver sponsors were Kwik Kopy in Knox and Henry Mercato's.  We also thank our bronze sponsors Wellington Village and Woolworths.

Happy 30th Birthday to Karoo - I am so so proud to be the Principal of our wonderful school and am  so excited to see what the future looks like at Karoo.

Have a fantastic week,

Danielle Heatley
