Principal's Report

2023 Headstart and our new 5 period day timetable

This week has seen our students undertake our 2023 Headstart Program. This gives our students the chance to understand the key skills and knowledge they will need to develop over the course of their subjects. The focus of our headstart program is to allow teachers to get to know their students as people and as learners and our staff have been preparing many formative activities to allow them to do this.

For our VCE students, there may be holiday homework to complete in preparation for Term 1 next year. They will also have access to Edrolo for many of their VCE subjects. Edrolo is a fantastic online resource providing video lessons and questions for our students to gain an early understanding of the topics they will be cover next year.

2022 Exams

Well done to all our Year 10 and 11 students who sat their end of year exams last week. It was a great opportunity for our students to show the skills they have learnt throughout the year under exam conditions while also gaining invaluable exam experience in preparation for the exams they sit when they are in Year 12.

Duke of Edinburgh celebration

On Thursday 1st December our Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh students will be celebrated at a presentation night to recognise their dedication to completing their respective Duke of Edinburgh Award. The night has been planned and organised by the students which is a wonderful achievement. A big shout out goes to Tracey Cain, our Duke of Edinburgh coordinator for the organisation and support she puts into the program for all of our students.

Year 8 and 9 Camp

In Week 11 of this term (week beginning 12th Dec), many of our Year 8 and 9 students will be attending camp. Our Year 8s are heading off to Camp Toolangi in the Toolangi State Forest. They will participate in team building, fun and challenging activities and will also enjoy an overnight camping experience. Our Year 9 students are heading off to Tasmania, flying into and basing themselves in Hobart, experiencing many of the wonderful experiences Tasmania has to offer. We wish all our students heading off on camp a wonderful time and hope it allows them to build new and stronger relationships with all attending.

Alternate Program in Week 11 (Week beginning 12th December)

Due to many of our Year 8 and 9 students attending camp in Week 10, we will be running an alternate program for our current Year 8 and 9 students. Timetabled classes will not be running, and students will undertake different classroom-based activities throughout each day.
