Canteen

Hello from the Canteen!

Another year is nearly over! 2022 has been a busy year for the canteen. We have served around 4220 lunches this year! Including 100 ravioli specials, over 450 garlic breads, 115 macaroni cheese, 900 hot dogs and 5800 dinosaur nuggets!!

Canteen/ menu update

Did you see the canteen survey go out recently on Edsmart and Seesaw? There is still time, please see the survey link : https://forms.office.com/r/HqfKcKujPDP. The results will be used to help us review the current menu over the summer holidays. Some menu changes are likely for next year. The crispy chicken chippee wrap (available Tuesdays and Wednesdays) has been quite popular and will be continuing for Term 1. Hopefully by the time we return next year, some of our other popular items such as jellies, Ice Monys, garlic breads and more will be back in stock with our suppliers. We would love to know any other ideas you have around our menu choices. You can add your suggestions in the survey.

Stock update

Stock is now running very low. Please continue to use QKR! to order. On Friday the 16th we will have ice blocks, drinks and snacks available. A very limited choice of hot foods will be added on Thursday afternoon once we have checked the stock we have left.

Ordering cut-off time

The cut-off time for QKR! orders is 8.50am. Sometimes QKR! gets overloaded and takes some time to process orders, so try not to leave ordering until the last minute. Any cash orders still need to be brought down in the class tray by 9.15am. If you have pre-ordered food on QKR! and your child is going to be absent, please cancel the order by 9.30am or it will be charged for (applies to lunch food items only. Drinks, snacks and ice-creams can be held until the next day). To cancel, ring the front office and ask to be transferred to the canteen. Children arriving late wanting to do cash orders will have limited choices and will not be able to order after 10.30am.

Bread Tags

Did you know the Canteen is a Bread tags for Wheelchairs collection point? If you have a stash of bread tags at home you can send them in to us and I will be dropping them in at the end of the year. Please note this is for plastic tags only, not the newer cardboard ones. Thank you.

Our CANTEEN needs YOU!

We really need volunteers to keep the canteen running. Volunteers enable us to cook our delicious and healthy meals onsite and keep our pricing low. Students also love to see their families being involved in the school community. We welcome mums, dads, grandparents, carers etc., no experience is necessary. The canteen supervisor will guide you through the morning with preparation of lunches, bulk cooking or even cleaning, any help is greatly appreciated. The canteen operates 4 days per week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Our volunteer shifts are from 9.00am until Midday (once lunches have been distributed). It doesn’t need to be every week. Just times that suit your schedule. A Working with Children Check is required but easily obtained and you also must complete a Volunteer Induction course online which the school will assist you with. If you are able to give the canteen some of your time, please see Karran or Michelle at the canteen or email parent.support483@schools.sa.edu.au.

Thank you for supporting us this year. We want to wish all Para Vista staff, students and their families a happy and safe holiday break and we look forward to seeing you back refreshed in 2023!
