Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Well done to our Pre Primary groups on their wonderful assembly recently.

They looked so confident in front of an audience. Thank you to the staff for preparing them.

Thank you for your support with the implementation of our new dog signage. The grounds are closed to dogs on and off lead between 7:30am-5:30pm.

Our two yearly school community survey has been extended until Monday at 4:00pm. Our thanks to everyone who have already gone online to complete the 5/10 minute survey which is a combination of open ended and multiple choice items. Staff and students from years 4-6 will also be undertaking the survey. The information collected will be looked at by the School Board and will help us with our planning over the next two years.

There is a School Board meeting on Thursday 1 December from 4:30pm. Parents are welcome to come along to this open meeting.

Congratulations to the Maths committee who have secured grant funding for a Maths problem solving coaching initiative in 2023 through SciTech. The school will receive resources and coaching for two staff who will then share this with the school.

Our Year 6 students who attended the City of Cockburn Student Parade for Remembrance Day were wonderful ambassadors for our school. They marched, with students representing 30 other schools, from the Council Offices to the memorial at Beale Park.

The school received some information recently on a new ‘Talk and Walk’ initiative from Nature Play WA. It is aimed at senior primary and secondary students who walk to and from school. The program encourages talking whilst walking and talking. Topics are accessed by phone on an application that has been developed by Nature Play WA. This app has a number of suggested talk topics which have been developed by students. This is a fun activity that promotes walking as well. If you are interested, the following link will give you details of the phone application. Natureplaywa.org.au/Talk-N-Walk

With planning underway for 2023, could families notify the teacher if your child may be transferring at the end of the year?

The students are very much enjoying the Artist in Residence tile making sessions. Our notice board has a mock-up of what the tile mural will eventually look like. Two historical photos, one with an image of our bell will be part of the mura,l along with a stainless steel image.

We recently had our 2023 Pre Primary group come up to the school for a Transition morning. There was also a meet and greet for the new Kindergarten families at Hazel Orme.

Coming up on Friday 25 November is our annual Camp Out. More information will come home regarding this.
