School Council

Education and Future Directions Subcommittee

The School Council would like to update the community on the work we have been pursuing through the Education and Future Directions Sub Committee to secure more funding to redevelop the old school buildings.

Leading up to the State Election, the School Council has engaged both sides of the major political parties- Labor and Liberal and the following outcomes are noted:

Liberal: If elected, have made a commitment to inject $5.2m to Huntingdale towards building projects for the school to begin with.

Labor: If reinstated, a commitment to consider future capital works at the school when determining future priorities for the state's capital works program. Labor notes that the school has received previous funding for projects such as the school oval (2018) and the junior building (2019- as part of the Government’s Asbestos Replacement Program). Labor is aware of the priorities of the school during visits throughout 2021 and 2022 (Steve Dimopoulos and Heang Tak)  but has made no commitments to the school leading up to the election.

This information may be a consideration for you when you vote this weekend.

If you are interested in assisting the school council with harnessing support from our local members, please email the school.
