Refurbishing Fisher

Our school has been granted funding as part of DECD's plan to provide contemporary facilities to complement cutting-edge teaching and learning approaches, enabling our students to develop deep skills, knowledge and understanding in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  DECD staff and guidelines determined the Fisher building to meet criteria for refurbishment and we are expecting works will begin late this term.

The refurbishment will result in more available learning space, better connectivity between learning areas and purpose built features to enhance our students' experiences. Some key features of the building will include:

-  a filming and presentation room with stepped seating and green screen

-  small group work spaces

-  connectivity to a new outdoor learning space encompassing a deck and garden

-  a maker space

-  quiet reflection areas

- meeting areas with built-in seating and walls for learners to record thinking (e.g. whiteboards, blackboards, projectors and screens)

We are excited by the possibilities that this upgrade enables and staff, in conjunction with students, are researching and planning how we can make the most of the new space to further build upon students' learning and experiences.

During the building works, Fisher staff and students will be utilising Tirkandi and space in Morphett as home bases. Trials have been taking place and have been successful. Adaptions of the spaces, as suggested by students, will occur prior to the move from Fisher. The expectation is that Year 5-7 students will begin the new school year in the refurbished building.

We look forward to sharing greater detail with our community as plans progress.
