T.ARTS is where students get to pick between different tasks including, drumming with Mr Clayton, visual arts with Ms Brook, woodwork With Mr Tarleton and many more. In T.ARTS you can learn lots of different skills depending on what you're doing. So far I’ve learnt how to drill and saw wood in woodwork, act in drama and keep in rhythm with other people as well as drum in drumming. T.ARTS has been really enjoyable so far because you get to choose what you would like to do learn and try new things. (Velvet)

Robotics at Underdale High School

A group of Year 5 and Year 6 went to Underdale High School for robotics. We were given instructions and we had to programme our robot to do certain things. Some of the things to do included move forward 500mm, turn around in a circle and move forward slow, turn and move backward fast. There was a sumo competition at the end where everyone programmed their robot to sense the black line so the robots won't go out the line, if two of the robot's wheels went out of the line they would be out until there were two robots left. The top two robots for every round would compete in the grand final. I got to the grand final but I did not win it. After the sumo all the students walked back to school. (Caroline)

The robots we used were called LEGO Mindstorms and they looked really complicated to control but they were actually not that hard. We got ten challenges to try and complete before recess because after recess we would do the sumo battle! I got up to challenge 8 but then we had to go to recess. After recess we started programming our robots for the sumo battle. We had to get it to detect a line, move, turn and repeat. I got into the grand finals but I did not win. Underdale was really fun and I would really like to do that again! (Kasia)

Going to robotics was a really fun experience for me since I got to learn more about programming and how the robots work. It was a good opportunity for me to learn,  work independently and use trial and error strategies. (Trevor)

HASS

During Semester 1, the Year 5 and 6 students did the the topic Geography. Our task was to design a game using the longitude and latitude coordinates. We were put into teams and each team was given a significant location from around the world. Teams were selected to play other people’s games. Each location had a letter on our game card and a clue as to what our location was. The cards were then placed around the school. Once the other team had found all of our cards, they had to work out what our location was. It was really fun to be able to go around the school and find out about different significant places from around the world. (Marysa & Natasha)

Mathematics

I have found maths very enjoyable because the teachers teach us new strategies, help us, and give us feedback. They give us good strategies so it makes our questions easier and more efficient to work out the answer and the process to get there. It is fun working out challenging questions with your friends. The teachers help us a lot when we are stuck even when we get the answer wrong they still give us feedback to get better at the strategy. (David)
