Collaboration

Collaboration

Collaboration is a key component of everything we do at Lockleys North Primary School.

Our flexible learning spaces foster collaboration between students and teachers, developing  leadership and social skills, empowering children to become motivated learners.

Teachers work alongside children and see themselves as co-learners, working together as a team. Children work in small groups daily in their own learning space and in other Mellor learning spaces. This has enabled both children and staff to develop positive relationships with all  year 1 and 2 children, fostering a caring and nurturing environment for learning to grow.

  • building our learning teams
  • setting team goals
  • working together, sharing our skills and knowledge
  • taking responsibility for our own learning
  • developing team leadership
  • becoming motivated powerful learners

Workshops

Teachers meet on a regular basis to discuss essential maths and literacy data collected on individual children. This data is then used to form small targeted groups, focussing on the skills requiring further consolidation. Regular reviews take place and children move in and out of groups dependent on individual needs. Target Time ( literacy based) and Secret Code Club ( numeracy based) are short, 30 minute targeted workshops where children practice essential skills to support their learning.

  • Small groups across the year 1/2 classes targeting individual children's needs
  • 30 minutes three times a week
  • Explicit teaching of secret code strategies
  • Applying strategies through games, number inquiry
  • developing essential problem solving skills
