Top Design

On Friday, 31 of March, the Year 12 Visual Communication classes went to the Top Design Exhibition at Melbourne Museum.  This trip proved to be invaluable for both the Unit 3 and 4 SAT study requirements.  Students attended the Top Designs Forums featuring an introductory talk from a VCAA Reviewer, addressing the School-­‐Assessed Task, using examples from the Top Designs exhibited works, folios and design plans.  This was followed by a presentation by an industry professional, Kate Pullen, who discussed her career as a freelance designer in Type.  Kate discussed the use of Type in a range of commercial industries.

Throughout both Unit 1 and 3 of Visual Communication Design this semester, we have been focusing on drawing from observation, rendering of different surface materials and textures with a consistent light source. Some examples of students work from the three design fields, communication, environmental and industrial Design are shown below.
