On Friday, 31 of March, the Year 12 Visual Communication classes went to the Top Design Exhibition at Melbourne Museum. This trip proved to be invaluable for both the Unit 3 and 4 SAT study requirements. Students attended the Top Designs Forums featuring an introductory talk from a VCAA Reviewer, addressing the School-‐Assessed Task, using examples from the Top Designs exhibited works, folios and design plans. This was followed by a presentation by an industry professional, Kate Pullen, who discussed her career as a freelance designer in Type. Kate discussed the use of Type in a range of commercial industries.
Throughout both Unit 1 and 3 of Visual Communication Design this semester, we have been focusing on drawing from observation, rendering of different surface materials and textures with a consistent light source. Some examples of students work from the three design fields, communication, environmental and industrial Design are shown below.
