Year 10 Pathway Mathematics

This week Ms Kaspar’s Year 10 Pathway Mathematics class were practising their coding skills with the new Sphero’s.

They had to learn how to use the “Lighting Lab” app to code the Sphero balls to jump off a ramp. The class then recorded the results in a table. Students will also have to create bar charts and stem and leaf plots and also make statistical analysis of their data.

Here is what the students had to say about the experience;

“It was fun because we got to drive the little Sphero balls around” - Tristan Amos

“It was better than just sitting around doing worksheets. We got to go outside and create our own date” – Jamie Bryant

“It was very interactive” – Ashden Peters

“It was enjoyable and it was a fun way to learn coding and get data for our statistics C.A.T” – Lachlan Pickett

“I was surprised that the balls could be moved by the iPad. I’ve never seen anything like it before” – Brooke Clarke

“It was a good experience. I’ve never coded before and I found it easy and fun” – Rachel Michaelson

“The balls move like magic. Well not really magic, its coding, but it looks magical” – Haydon Williams
