Year 12 Study Skills Elevate Education
Year 12 students attended two study skills sessions on Friday 9 September: ‘Ace your Exams’ and ‘Memory Mnemonics.’
Feedback from the students was incredibly positive and the sessions were appreciated as a great start to the final weeks of Year 12, before the end of year exams.
The coordinators would like to congratulate the students on their attitude toward the day and encourage everyone to put into practice, all the tips they learned on the day.
Year 12 Study Break
Various Year 12 teachers have offered their time over the holidays to support students in the lead up to examinations.
Holiday classes are not compulsory, but highly recommended to assist revision (see the timetable below).
Furthermore, it is suggested that students plan to use their break strategically, by waking up at normal school time and revising each subject in chunks throughout the day.
A3 study planners are available in the VCE Office and are especially useful to help students plan their time. Best of luck!
VCE Masterclass Schedule
Every year the Yarra Valley Teacher’s network runs VCE Masterclasses for various Unit 3 and 4 subjects. They are held locally, are reasonably priced and are designed for students to maximise their chances of success in VCE.
As we are at the pointy end of the year, students need to be grabbing every opportunity they can!
VCAA Examination Timetable
All students completing a Unit 3 & 4 subject were given a copy of the VCAA examination navigator, which stipulates the timetable, rules and information about acceptable equipment.
Copies are also available online at;

SAC Redemption
Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence. If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.
Attendance
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class, there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed.
Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon study periods, or after school.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study Periods, Periods 1 & 2.
Student Absences
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved – you can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.
You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
School Captains
This term has been a big one. Not only have all classes been going insane with content, preparing for our last SACs and exams, but there’s been plenty of extra-curricular activities as well.
We have had the Premier's Reading Challenge which was fantastic this year with records broken for number of books that were read. Congratulations to all of those involved.
Then there was a second round for athletics, with plenty of successful participants, as the school came home with all 4 shields for Junior, Middle, Senior and overall champs.
Not only were students able to showcase their athletic abilities this term, we had our School Production where talents were on show in the Arts department. This year's 'Wedding Singer' was a huge success! Many people raving about how funny, creative and beautifully performed it was! Well done to all performers.
VCE Ski camp also ran during Term 3 which provided the VCE’s with a chance to hit the snow with their friends and enjoy fun recreational activities at Falls Creek.
Although Term 3 has been very busy and all our subjects are coming to an end, it has been great to see all students achieving their goals and giving their best.
We wish you all a very safe and productive Term 3 break preparing for Term 4 and end of year exams.
