South East Zone Clay Target Shooting

State qualifying championships

On Thursday 4 August, a group of 14 shooters attended the South East Zone Clay Target shooting contest at Frankston Clay Target Club.

Our students competed against approximately 200 students that represented various schools in our region. Many coming from as far as Maffra and other parts of Gippsland.  Our students did very well, some achieving personal bests on the day.

Place getters on the day and the winning team are eligible to compete at the State Championships at Bendigo on September 5.

For the fourth year in a row, we won the teams event. The team consisted of Pacey Luttgens, Chris Werner, Will Smithwick, Jack Clerke and Mitchell Laukhart.

Unfortunately, Jack Clerke will be unable to attend the State finals as he will be in Morocco as a member of the Australian team at the World Championships.  John Ring will very capably fill in for him at this event.

Will Smithwick won the Senior Boys event on the day and Michaela Kincaid was placed in the Junior Girls event.  Will and Michaela will also represent the school at Bendigo in the State Championships.
