INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Year 7
Instrumental Music News
Nearly all Year 7 students who wanted to learn a musical instrument have started their lessons.
However, we still need more students to learn the Clarinet, Tuba, French Horn, Trumpet and Trombone.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
If you have Voice lessons, you must participate in the Vocal Ensemble which runs on Wednesday lunchtimes with Clancye in the Band Room. The Vocal Ensemble is for students of all year levels and everyone is welcome.
If you have lessons on a Woodwind, Brass or Percussion instrument, you will be part of the Rookie Band, which will start soon on Friday mornings at 8.25 am - 8.55 am in the Band Room. This band will be made up of only Year 7 beginner students who are all at the same stage of playing.
If you have lessons on Guitar, you will be in a Guitar Ensemble organised by Stephen McCulloch.
If you have lessons on Drum Kit/Percussion you will be in the Percussion Ensemble, run by Malcolm Abbott on Fridays. It will be starting next term.
If you learn Piano, you will be involved in a Piano Workshop during the year. Some students will be invited to come and play in the Rookie Band.
Please try to let your teacher know if you can’t make it to your music lesson. Instrumental Music teachers are often only here one or maybe two days and can’t make up missed lessons easily. Private teachers will have their own rules for missing lessons.
Practice at home regularly. Playing often for a short time is better than once for a long time!
For those hiring instruments, please make sure that you bring back your hire form and pay the fees of $150 for your instrument.
Vocal Ensemble Excursion
Recently, the Vocal ensemble went to see The Greatest Showman movie for an excursion. Students had a fabulous time singing along with the music!
