Summer School

Summer School

On the Holidays, over two weeks in January (9th to 22nd) I attended the VCE Summer School 2016, at Melbourne University. I took part in the residential program, which provides a stay for the students from regional Victoria at St. Hilda's college.  At the program there were eighty residential kids from all over Victoria and 500+ kids who travelled from home.

All of our classes were held at the University of Melbourne campus. It was a great experience that gave me an idea of what university life is like. Over the two weeks I met heaps of people, everyone was nice and we all helped each other find our way around campus.

We got to study all the subjects that we are meant to be doing at school.

All of our classes ran smoothly because of the timetables. During the classes we did a brief overview of everything included in the courses of what we will be studying this year. We also got many helpful exam tips. The tutors organised and ran the classes, and also other activities like a scavenger hunt, careers expo and many more. Beach day was cancelled because of the weather but instead we went to the museum.

The tutors were all university students who were either doing their degree or finishing up, so it was awesome because we could ask them about anything, which was really helpful.

There were many workshops organised, some of them included, study skills, exam skills, welfare, all about ATAR, k-pop dance class, tea tasting and many more fun and informational workshops.

At the residential program we were divided in groups of ten and had our own team colours. It was really fun and over the two weeks we did a heap of activities such as the amazing race, going out for a gelato, going to the park for lunch, a seniors disco and many more.

All in all, I had an amazing time meeting a lot of new people, making new friends, doing the activities and workshops.
