Outdoor Giant Chess

This year the library purchased some giant chess pieces to be used by students before school and at lunchtime.  There is a keen group of chess enthusiasts within the school and an increasing number of students showing interest in the game of strategy.  This prompted the library to make the game more accessible to more students.

Our wonderful VCAL students and staff assisted us with this project.  VCAL students washed down our outdoor chess board set in pavers and are busily working on constructing outdoor seating around the chess board.  We look forward to more students coming and trying their hand at chess.
