The Arrowsmith Program

WAYNE STAGG

Head of the Arrowsmith Program

A warm welcome to our new students and families who have joined the Arrowsmith program in 2020; Amelie Le Blanc, Luella Findlay, Emily Hede and Annabel Hood. We wish you every success on your Arrowsmith journey, and look forward to seeing your progress.

On Wednesday the 19th of February, the founder and Director of the Arrowsmith Program, Ms Barbara Arrowsmith-Young, visited Oakleigh Grammar.

Barbara met with management and Arrowsmith staff, spoke to the students about her experiences and visited the classrooms; engaging with the students whilst they completed their exercises.

In the evening, Oakleigh Grammar hosted Barbara in front of 180 people as she spoke about her learning difficulties, how she overcame them and how the Arrowsmith Program assists students in academic and social-emotional domains. She also revealed the extensive research behind the program, including the recent research released in December 2019. Her story is truly inspirational.

Eliana Ben-David, a Year 12 student at Oakleigh Grammar, spoke of her learning difficulties pre- Arrowsmith, and how the program enabled her to develop into a confident learner, both academically and socially. It was a moving, emotional and inspiring speech from Eliana, and proof that the Arrowsmith Program can change the lives of students.

The night finished with Barbara signing copies of her new book, ‘The woman who changed her brain’ 3rd edition.
