Principal's Message

What an exciting year we have had this year at MFG!

2019 has been dominated by the refurbishment of our Embling Building, which is unrecognisable from the inside. It is light filled, colourful, warm in winter and cool on the hot days (the fans are a real treat). It has been lovely to see everyone enjoying the learning spaces in this building.

In addition, the heritage building was demolished to return it to its original state.  At the moment it is still unfinished, but in early 2020 it will stand tall and proud in our school grounds again.

A huge thanks to our entire school community for their patience and understanding with the long walks around the building site, the reduced play spaces and being somewhat cramped in for the majority of the year. You have modelled our traits; resilient and adaptable.

Our building works have not prevented other exciting events of 2019 such as: an amazing school production, international visitors, overseas trips, outdoor adventures, challenging problems, heated debates and analyses, sporting competitions, virtual reality opportunities, cultural experiences…

A huge thank you to our staff who have led these amazing experiences for our students.

Other things in 2019 have been less visible and difficult to specify, though, are actually more significant in terms of who we are as a community. These are the attitudes and values that are embedded in the fabric of everyday life at MFG. They are represented in the multitude of moments, some defining, some barely noticeable, which add to the development of understanding and character in each of our students. So let us acknowledge the hard work, dedication and focus of our staff and our students who strive each day to achieve these noble goals.

In addition, we formally thank our wonderful support staff who work behind the scenes to help our students to be able to participate in these magnificent opportunities. Also, we acknowledge the contributions of School Council to ensure that our school meets its legal requirements.

Finally, thank you to our school leaders who are responsible for driving the continual improvement of our school.

I wish everyone a wonderful summer break and hope it is full of laughter and love.
