20 Things We Should Say More Often

You know when you just have 'one of those' weeks. Well this little reflection from Kid President was shared with us in our staff prayer this week and it just made me think of the little things we can do to turn 'one of those weeks' into a good week.

Big Day Out

To celebrate Catholic Education Week our Big Day Out: Combined Schools Celebration has been scheduled for Thursday 12th March.

We, along with children from St Augustine's and Annunciation Primary Schools, will celebrate  Mass at St Augustine’s Church at 10:30am. Following Mass, the children will have an early lunch (BYO) and then we will walk across to the Sun Theatre for a movie afternoon.

Our Year Prep - 2 children will watch Farmageddon-Shaun the Sheep (G)

And our Year 3-6 children will get to see Jumanji 2.

If you have any concerns regarding your child watching Jumanji, which has a PG rating, please advise your child’s teacher THIS WEEK so that alternative arrangements can be made.

The children will be supplied with a Mini Popcorn Combo (popcorn and drink) to enjoy during their movie. If your child is unable to partake in these, please provide an alternative 'treat'.

Children are to wear their full summer school uniform (including hat) and are to bring along their lunch in a disposable bag and their water bottle, all clearly labelled. Senior children are to bring a small back pack.

We will have an early morning snack break at school prior to leaving. We will depart by bus from Corpus Christi at approximately 10:00am and return around 3:00pm.

Student Sickness/Absences

Thank you so much to  families sending advanced notifications of student absences. This is making the management legislation much more workable for our wonderful office staff.

Legislation requires parents to ensure their child attends school every day and to provide an explanation for their child's absence from school. The emphasis now is that parents should inform the school in advance of upcoming absences and as soon as possible for unexpected events.

The easiest way to do this is through our school App. With a tap of your fingers you can easily send absentee notification through your smart phone, tablet, laptop or PC. Many families are already using this tool so thank you. To download our app, click:

Apple Store

On another note, if your child is sick, it is important to keep them home so that the sickness is not spread. For example if your child has a case of gastroenteritis, according to the Victorian Health Department, they  are to be excluded from schools & childcare centres until there has not been a loose bowel motion or vomit for at least 24 hours .

Years 1-6 Learning Conferences

Learning Conferences for Year 1 to 6  students have been scheduled for:

Wednesday 25th March, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please note that all children in Prep to Year 6 will be dismissed at 1:00 pm that day.

As the child is at the heart of everything we do we ask that all children attend the Learning Conferences with their parents.

We understand that at times, there may be a need to address matters that ‘aren’t meant for the child’s ears’ and we will certainly accommodate those needs towards the end of the appointment time.

We hope that the opportunity for all to take part in these Learning Conferences proves most beneficial. The meetings will be scheduled every 12 minutes. We understand that in some special cases a longer time will be required and if this is the case you are asked to make alternative arrangements with your class teacher.

Families are to use School Interviews Online to manage bookings. Please go to www.schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the event code of:   h62xd to book interviews for the times that suit your family.

Bookings are now open.

Open Mornings: School Tours

Our Open Mornings, specifically tailored for our Year Prep 2021 intake, will take place on Wednesday 11th March and Tuesday 17th March.

Our Year 5/6 Leaders will be available to take new and existing families on school tours between 9:00 and 11:00 am.

Feel free to pass this information on to families you know who may be searching for a school for their child next year.

School Blessing

Last Friday we were lucky enough to have Bishop Mark Edwards join us to officially  bless our newly refurbished buildings.

A small ceremony was held and then Bishop Mark and an accompanying party of adults and children walked through the entire north western wing encompassing the Year 1/2 Community, the Year Prep Community and our new Library & Resource Centre  where each area was  blessed.

Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF)

A reminder that families who hold a valid Health Care Card for the 2020 year are able to receive a government rebate through the Camp, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) which is currently set at $125 per primary aged child.

Applications for the CSEF can be collected from the school office. We encourage families to submit these to the school office by the end of March.
