From the Principal's Desk

Welcome Back to Term 4

I trust you all had an enjoyable time over the holiday period and were able to spend some quality time as a family.

I hope to be in alot more this term! I look forward spending more time with everyone and celebrating the wonderful learning of all as we approach the end of the year.

This term once again proves to be very busy yet very exciting.

  • Next week our External Reviewer will be visiting the school on Tuesday and Thursday and will be meeting with all staff and some parents and students to get a clearer picture of our school as part of our School Improvement Framework
  • Our Year Preps will be having their Kite Making Night next week which will be fun for all
  • Our Interschool Sport (Summer Competition) for our senior children  commences against Footscray West Primary School on Friday 18th October
  • Our Transition Program for our Year 2020 Prep children commences on Monday 21st October
  • On 23rd October our Year 5/6 children will head away to Camp Marysville for 3 days and 2 nights and are ‘champing at the bit’ to get there.
  • Italian Day will be celebrated on Monday 28th  October
  • The Zoo will be coming to our Year 3/4 Children on 30th October for a who's who  at the zoo.
  • Our Swimming Program for Years Prep-4 children commences Wednesday 6th November, running for eight consecutive days. Full details regarding our Swimming Program will be sent home in the coming weeks.
  • Our students involved in the ABC Music Program will showcase their guitar skills to our community on Monday 2nd December and their keyboard skills on Wednesday 4th December.
  • There  will be the usual Advent Paraliturgies and let’s not forget our Annual Christmas Concert and Picnic on Tuesday 17th December commencing at 6:00pm.

All these types of events showcase the wonderful things being done through our extra curricula programs and highlight the many and varied educational experiences offered to our children.

It certainly will be a jam packed last term... wish us luck!

Newsletter Articles

Our Newsletter platform makes it so super easy for families to connect with the school.  But not everything (quite deliberately) is  contained on this one page. Please make sure you browse through each and every page of the newsletter so that you can really engage with 'our story' and be informed of all that happens at our wonderful school.

Supporting Children's Behaviour: Parent Seminar

Please find a flyer attached for a FREE seminar, for parents and carers  of children aged 2-12, taking place on Wednesday 16th October, 6.30-8.30 pm at Maidstone Child and Family Centre (23 Burns St, Maidstone).

The topic is  “Supporting Children’s Behaviour” and is being delivered in partnership with MacKillop Family Services.

This topic has frequently come up in my conversations with families so this may prove a valuable opportunity for all.

Bookings are required – see link on the flyer for details.

Fees and levies

Thank you to all families who have finalised Fee and Levy payments for 2019. A reminder that all accounts (unless otherwise arranged with me) are due now. Payments can be made at the school office or by EFT via:

BSB: 083 347

Account Number: 488033614

Please reference family name or ID number with your payment.

Summer Uniform

It's time to put away the winter uniform for another year!

It is expected that all children will now be wearing their correct summer uniform. Uniform items are readily available through the school office for purchase.

While you are getting your summer items together, please make sure everything is labelled with your child's name. It still amazes me the number of nameless items which are left in classrooms or brought to the office.

Building Works

Over the holiday our builders continued to rectify the defects from our building progam and while the library area is still not 100% complete, be sure to check out the new window artwork. It was designed by our very own Miss Debbie using 'stock images' and was installed (separately from the building program) by Grafico. We would love your thoughts.

Term 4 Closure Day

The school closure day for Term 4 is on Monday 4th November for staff professional development.  Children do not attend school on that day.

Student Portfolios

We hope you have had the opportunity to explore with your child the portfolio over the holiday period and have celebrated their successes. We ask that the portfolios are now returned to your child’s teacher so that we can commence compiling samples for Term 4.

2020 Planning

Our new Prep children for 2020 commence their Transition Program on 21st October which is always an exciting time for families.

Our planning for 2020 is well underway in regards to staffing and class structure. If any family knows that they will not be returning in 2020 I ask you to make contact with the school office as soon as practical.

Have a wonderful week

God Bless
