Denise's Message

Dear Families,

Welcome to Springtime and what a beautiful day it was for the first day of Spring! It is the season of new life, flowers blooming, sunshine and warmth and although the time we have to enjoy it is still limited, let's make sure we take the opportunities to do so whenever we can.

On Wednesday 1st September the Premier and the Chief Health Officer announced that the lockdown will remain until at least September 23rd. The Premier also announced that schools would not return to onsite learning for the remainder of Term 3, this certainly was not the news we wanted to hear. But in saying that our St Michael's families and staff have shown great resilience, patience and strength so far and I know will continue to do so for these final two weeks of the term. You have done such an amazing job of learning at home and the staff are so grateful for the support you are giving them and your children. We simply ask that you continue to do the best you can and to remember to be kind to yourself and those around you, by doing this we will get through this together.

COVID Regulations

The Chief Health Officer has recommended that children under the age of 12 years also wear masks. This is not compulsory so the school will not be insisting that children wear masks at school. I do ask that if you do want your child to wear a mask that you teach them how to wear it properly as well as how to take care of their mask hygienically when not wearing it. Masks will not be placed in lost property but will be thrown away if found lying around and not stored properly.

Fathers' Day

This Sunday 5th September is Father's Day and I wish all fathers and father figures in our children's lives a wonderful day. Fathers are not always present in a child's life but there is often an important male figure such as a grandfather, uncle, big brother or even a neighbour, to all of these people, thank you for all you do and we hope you have a great day on Sunday as well.

NAPLAN Results

The 2021 NAPLAN results for Yr 3 and Yr 5  students have just been released. Families will receive an individual summary of their child's results over the next couple weeks in the mail. If you have changed address this year, please ensure you contact the office to amend your personal records.

Building Update

Our Building Project is continuing and works will start onsite at school during the September school holidays and is still expected to be completed ready for the 2022 school year. I have again attached the link demonstration of how the build will take place.

Returning in 2022

It is hard to believe that it is now time for us to start making plans for 2022. In the next week you will be receiving a letter via Operoo asking for confirmation of your child's enrolment at St Michael's for 2022. Your response to this letter prior to the start of Term 3 would be much appreciated.

2021 School Fees and Levies

It is expected that all fees and levies for 2021 are finalised and paid in full by the end of this term. I ask families that have yet to finalise these payments to do so prior to September 17th. Please make an appointment to speak to me if you wish to discuss this further.

All students attending St Michael's Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
