This week is Child Protection Week (5th - 11th September).  The theme of this year’s Child Protection Week is, “Every child, in every community, needs a fair go.”  To treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we all need to make sure that every family and community has what children need to thrive and be healthy.

At St. Brigid's we strive to ensure that every child in our community knows that they: belong, are valued and respected and that they matter absolutely.

The1st of September marked the start of the annual,  ecumenical Season of Creation.         Pope Francis and the Australian Bishops encourage all Catholics to make this a special time of prayer and action in caring for our common home.  As such the Australian Bishops have created a Social Justice Statement explaining this, entitled Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor” This season continues until 4 October, the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, who is considered the patron saint of our natural environment and care for creation.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

We hope that all Fathers and Father figures in our community had a Happy Fathers Day.

In this year of St Joseph, we pray to the earthly father of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, his earthly father.

Bless all fathers, father figures, stand in fathers and everyone who takes on the role of fathers as they care for their families.

Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness, and patience.

Support them in the work they have to do for their families.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Feast of The Nativity of Blessed Mary, Mother of Jesus.

On 8th September, The Catholic Church celebrates the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this takes place nine months after the celebration of her Immaculate Conception as the child of Saints Joachim and Anne.

In the words of Pope Francis:

“Mary, in the beauty of following the Gospel and in her service to the common good of humanity and the planet, always teaches us to listen to these voices, and she herself becomes the voice of the voiceless.”

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning
