Covid-19 Update

Our latest news was very disappointing, and really shows how insidious and speedy this disease is to all of our communities. As we know and now realise Covid has literally surrounded the school across the Moreland and Darebin LGA's.

We will be in lock down for the remainder of Term Three, something we just didn't want to hear. So, we will be providing on-site supervision for workers who have submitted an electronic form and emailed their worker permit.

Please review information provided and follow the requirements of DHHS so we can reduce exposure to this horrible disease.

Tier 1 & 2 Infected Sites

I was going to list the sites nearby, but since yesterday the number of sites near the school has grown significantly. I ask all parents and carers to continually monitor the State Government Covid information website.

Reminder QR code

Make sure if you haven't done so, please upload the Victorian Government 'Service Victoria' app. Reminder whenever or wherever you go do please, please QR code at the entrance of the store or wherever, even the local petrol outlet. It doesn't matter if you were there five minutes or longer it just helps us to get out of this pandemic.

Permit to Work

We thank those parents for providing their current copy of their work permit, which expires on Thursday 23rd September.

We do not accept letters from employers. We can only accept a current completed form showing the days and times of work clearly identified and is signed by your employer and yourself as the employee. If these conditions are not complied with, then your request for Remote learning On-site supervision maybe rejected.

Reminder of the categories

Category A

Children where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an authorised provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:

  • Where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
  • For single parents/ carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

Parents and carers who are authorised workers will need an authorised worker permit from their employers to access on-site supervision for their child/ren in Category A.

Category B

On-site supervision continues to be available for the below students:

Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

  • in out-of-home care
  • deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home
  • identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service)
  • Where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide on-site supervision for that student. This may apply to students enrolled in specialist schools and students with a disability enrolled in mainstream schools.

A permit is not required under Category B.

Category B does not include situations where families feel believe they as adults are overwhelmed with the challenges of home schooling.

I know this is a very challenging time and as a school we understand this is an extremely demanding and exhaustive time for parents, children and teachers. We are incredibly thankful for your patience and the support you are providing your child's teachers. Below is a list of supports available. These include:

Special Page

Today have added a page to this newsletter as a way of connecting the teachers, students and families in some meaningful way. Please enjoy.

Reminder - Friday 17th September

Friday will be a pupil free day. We will still provide supervision for students of essential workers as well as OOSHC for these students. We will not be providing supervision for casual use, only for existing essential workers or those identified as vulnerable students. If you are not in these two categories, then please do not ask.
