Traffic Matters
When using the town oval to pick up or drop off your children please follow the directions below.
Please enter from Swamp Rd and travel in an anticlockwise direction, leaving by the Greenhill Rd gate near the tennis courts, making sure that you keep to the left of the ticket box at the entrance. Please don't do a circuit of the oval and leave by the Swamp Rd entrance as this will cause extra wear and tear on that section of the road. The speed limit in the park is 10kph.
Premier's Reading Challenge
A reminder that the Challenge finishes on Friday 3 September (next week) and all forms need to be returned to Di by then. Well done to those students who have already returned their forms. Medals and certificates will be given out in Term 4.
A Note from Emily
Belonging to a community is a powerful thing. Finding a sense of belonging is a sense of knowing who you are and where you fit. It is not the same as being “in the community”, presence does not necessarily lead to participation. Participation in a community takes time and effort, building meaningful relationships and supporting those who feel rejected, looking for those who may be ‘hidden’, isolated in the community. Clive Hamilton writes, “People need a sense of belonging. We all need to be recognised as having a place, a respected place. There is no worse fate than to be rejected by society”. Inclusion is what helps to change this fate, to learn to live with one another, respecting diversity, celebrating difference, it means welcoming everyone. I see Uraidla Primary School as a significant part of our community, not only for the way families here are involved in different aspects of the community such as through sport, churches, supporting charities, businesses and farming. It is where generations of families have come and gone, or who have stayed in the area and had 5 or more generations come through the school. I encourage you that whether you have been a part of this community for a short time or for generations, ask yourself, what else can I do or can we do as a community to support those who feel like they don’t belong?

If you do need to enter the school grounds, please check in with the displayed QR code, wear a mask and keep the required distance from others. If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, please make contact through the SeeSaw app and they will ring you back. Meetings about children’s learning will take place online or over the phone until further notice.
