Foundation News

On Friday 30th July the Foundation students celebrated their 100th day of school!! It was such a fabulous day full of fun and celebrations. All of the students and teachers came dressed up as 100 year old’s – the costumes were OUTSTANDING! The day started off with our 100 Days of school parade where we showed off our costumes and sang our amazing song. The students were asked to collect 100 items and bring it to school on Friday and share their collection with the class as a special show and tell. Some of the items that were brought to school were: 100 mini marshmallows, 100 pieces of dry pasta, 100 grains of rice, 100 origami shapes and so many more! We had a special lunch and enjoyed eating some delicious food together. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE FOUNDATION STUDENTS – WE REACHED 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL! You are all amazing and should be so proud of yourselves.

Level 3 News

Bound for Botany Bay

This term, the Level 3 students have been sent back to the 1700’s to immerse themselves in an important time in Australian history. Students have researched facts about the 11 ships that set sail from Portsmouth as part of the First Fleet and have even recreated accurate models using Minecraft Education. They have heard stories from genuine child convicts to gain an insight into what life was like on board these vessels. Placing themselves in the shoes of these convicts, they wrote letters back home to loved ones left behind and designed love tokens as keepsakes. We’ve tracked the epic journey these ships undertook using Google Earth and documented significant events along the way on a timeline. We still have so much to explore and uncover and are so excited for our excursion to visit Polly Woodside in the last week of term.

Level 4 News

The Level 4’s have been super excited about the Olympics. This week we have focussed our Maths sessions on ‘The Great Potato Olympics’. We participated in events like egg and spoon sprints, weighing and measuring the circumference of our potatoes, and seeing who can get the longest role. We have learnt how to collect data and graph our results. It has been a lot of fun!
