Book Week Parade 2020

From Alice (Librarian) and Gabi (Assistant Principal/ Literacy)

Next week is Book Week!

This is our favourite week of the year because we get to celebrate the 2021 shortlisted books, and to of course enjoy lots of our favourite books across the week!

Book Week Parade Postponed

Regretfully we have made the decision to postpone the Book Week Dress Up Day until Term 4. Instead, we are going to be offering some additional activities throughout the week, which the students can participate in. We hope that we will be able to hold our Book Parade later in the year, so hold onto those costume ideas!

Puppet Parade

While we cannot hold the Book Parade right now, we have decided to celebrate our favourite books with a virtual Puppet Parade instead! Throughout next week, all students will have the opportunity to make a puppet with Alice (via Webex) based on one of the shortlisted books. The materials needed will be items you likely have already at home and will be listed via Compass, Seesaw or Google Classroom.

Mystery Reader

Next week, we will also have ‘Mystery Readers’ who have been filmed reading and sharing their favourite picture books with you. These will be shared with your family on Compass and on the learning platforms. I wonder if you will be able to guess who the Mystery Reader is each day?

‘Create a World’ Competition

Don’t forget about our Book Week “create a world” competition. There is still a few days to get your submissions in, and the competition is fierce!

I’d love to live in any of the worlds already submitted.

We are looking forward to celebrating Book Week with you!
