DEBATING
Congratulations to the Mary Mackillop CRC Debating Team who won their respective first round DAV Debates on the topic "that Auslan should be compulsory in Australian schools". We had two teams in this round occupying both the affirmative and negative positions.
The competition took place in an online format and we had Eleanor Pedlow, Lydia Giles, Lenna Scholmeyer (as speakers one, two and three) in the affirmative position. They debated against Prahan High School.
Olivia King, Wilhelm Layton and Emma Miller (as speakers one, two and three) took the negative position and debated against Sacred Heart Girls College.
All speakers argued incredibly well and showed excellent team spirit in working together online. It was the first time that Eleanor had debated and she did incredibly well. Best Speakers were also won by both Mary MacKillop teams with Lydia Giles being Best Speaker and Olivia King also being Best Speaker.
Thank you to all who supported the team with making suggestions and helping with speeches. If anyone wishes to join the debate club please contact Mrs King via email.
Well done to all!
Mrs King
