Wellness Week

A big thank you to Mrs. Milich and the KidsMatter team for all their efforts in organising our 2021 Wellness Week activities. It has been a thoughtful and enjoyable time, with Motivational Monday, Therapeutic Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday and Friendship Friday.

As part of our ongoing professional learning at the Junior School, all staff have been working with ‘Be You’ and completing online units of work. ‘Be You’ is the national mental health in education initiative delivered by Beyond Blue, in collaboration with Early Childhood Australia and Headspace. ‘Be You’ supports educators from early learning services and schools to develop a positive, inclusive and resilient learning community where every child, young person, educator and family can achieve their best possible mental health. This term, our focus’ have been ‘Mentally Healthy Communities’, Family Partnerships’ and ‘Learning Resilience’. If parents would like any further information or links to this important resource, please contact our ‘Be You’ team leader Mrs. Bernadette Milich. bmilich@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au

Last Friday our Jeans for Genes Day raised in excess of $215 for research into childhood diseases. Well done Junior School!

Year Six Melbourne Trip

This week we made the difficult decision to cancel the Year Six trip to Melbourne in Week 10 of this term. The uncertain nature of the Melbourne lockdown has meant we cannot safely spend time in the city at this time. Efforts are being made to look for a regional Victorian alternative in Term Four.

Keeping our Students Safe

In this time of COVID 19, it is important that we all follow the accepted guidelines and keep unwell children who are exhibiting cold and flu symptoms at home.

As we head into spring, hayfever will be an issue for a number in our learning community. If your child suffers from hayfever, a letter from a GP can be obtained, stating the patient is a hayfever sufferer and will occasionally exhibit symptoms.

Pedestrian safety is important in the mornings and afternoons. We have altered the driveway arrangements to make for a safer and quicker afternoon pick up. If students walk to school, they must avoid using the driveway behind the Refectory. All students must enter the Junior School via the front driveway off Kent Road or via the oval on Hensley Park Road.

Parents are asked to avoid parking on North Boundary Road and walking their children into the early Learning Centre or Junior School.

Book Week

The theme for this year’s Book Week is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’. Tradition has it we have a Junior School Dress-Up Day. This will take place on Thursday 26 August. We look forward to the students enjoying the opportunity to dress as a favourite book character.
