Little Library - Learning Forest

Recently our Year 7 Space underwent an amazing transition to a Learning Forest. It is well documented that wide reading is the key to learning in all areas of the curriculum. Many of our Year 7s are keen readers and a feature of the new Learning Forest is a Little Library. This installation allows students to borrow or keep a book of interest and donate their own books for inclusion. Students are able to experience new novels and share those they enjoyed with others by donating them.

To encourage students to select a book, and keep if they enjoy it, we are not requiring students to donate a book if they take one. To facilitate this we would love for some donations from the Endeavour College community to include on the shelves. The books will be for Year 7 students and can be fiction or non-fiction.

If your own student has grown out of some of their books, or has run out of room on their bookshelf, we would love to receive donations. You can mark the donations ‘Little Library Care of: Catherine Barnes’ and leave them at Student Services or Front Reception.

Year 11 Research Project

Research Project is a self-directed study undertaken by all Year 11 students on a topic of choice. This year we have some excellent topics which will not only extend the knowledge of the students, but also the teachers who will be marking them. Topics this year include:

  • Linguistics in social media
  • Use of technologies for fitness
  • Therapy animals
  • Use of VR for rehabilitation
  • Brain injuries and memory
  • Restoring a vintage motorcycle
  • Development of the game of chess
  • Impact of video assisted referee on soccer
  • Racism in sport
  • Effect of foreign aid in third world countries
  • Gender pay gap in sport

The students are excited about their new knowledge, however they still have more to learn. If you have knowledge and/or experience in any of these areas they would love to ask you a question or two via email.
