Canteen

Hi everyone

I thought we could all use a giggle, so have a quick look at something we can look forward to (?) soon...

Canteen Bingo:

This term, the Canteen Committee has been holding a competition for students and families, asking for donations of pantry items – Canteen Bingo.

I'm very excited to announce that 1LP has won a class party and PHP has won a class morning tea! Great work to these classes and congratulations! I'll be organising your class prizes when we get back to school.

I will also update the other classes Bingo Cards when our return date has been announced. Every other class which completes their Bingo Card will receive a Zooper Dooper for each class member….so please keep donating!

  • A copy of all Bingo Cards is kept up to date in the hallway outside the canteen
  • Once the full quantity of each item has been received, the bingo square is crossed off at the canteen
  • The quantity of each item is listed under each photo (unless a single item is required)
  • Pictures of progress is posted on the RHPS Facebook page
  • Each class/year level has slightly different items required
  • Pictures are for reference only. Any brand is perfect unless it has been specifically listed, such as Cobs Flavoured Popcorn or Fountain Tomato Sauce
  • The collection period will be extended due to lockdown

'A Touch of Pink' Morning Tea:

Due to Wednesday's announcement, I am pushing the date out (hopefully by one week) for the morning tea and order cut off and will confirm dates on Compass as soon as we know when we'll be back at school. This special event will go ahead, so please continue to add your orders to MSC.

Remember the cost of each pancake order includes a $1 donation which will go directly to Cancer Council. There is also an option to make an additional donation to Cancer Council within the menu on MSC.

Pizza Lunch:

I'm so pleased the students were able to receive their (twice) rescheduled Pizza Lunch before lockdown. Thanks to Julie, Lisa, Tanya and Troy who helped to deliver 252 orders to classrooms.

Recently, my family have been living on soups and toasties for lunches. If you have half an hour to spare, give this chicken soup a try. It's quick to make, tastes delicious and freezes well.

Chicken and Veggie Soup

1/2 roast chook, chopped and skin removed

1 onion, diced

3 sticks celery, sliced

2 carrots, grated

1 zucchini, grated

1/2 cup frozen corn

whatever other veggies you need to use up

2 ltr salt reduced chicken stock

shake of Italian seasoning

1/4 cup risoni (or small dried pasta variety)

Method:

Fry onion and celery in 1 tsp of olive oil until onion is transparent. Throw everything else in the pot and simmer until veggies have softened. Add risoni and allow to simmer until cooked through. Season with a little black pepper.

If the kids don't like veggie pieces, blend.

If freezing, decant into containers and allow to cool in the fridge before moving to freezer.

Take care,

Wendy
