Intermediate Softball SSV State Finals

After progressing to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals and winning, the intermediate girls softball team competed in the SSV state softball competition on Thursday 31st May at Jells Park.

We started the day with an amazing first game against Chairo Christian College, keeping them scoreless. We ended up winning that game 17-0. Next we played our rivals - MacRob who we had played every round so far. We gave it our best shot and came out on top by 1 run, winning 9-8. In the finals qualifying game we played Brentwood. It was a tough game and it was extremely hard to compete against their strong batting. We did a really good job not giving up till the end and continuing all day.

Thanks to Ms McLean and Zoe Markopoulos for coaching us on the day!

Congratulations to the Intermediate Softball Team:

Jenna, Shaan, Sasha, Cherry, Coline, Gabi, Georgia, Mieka, Devanshi, Amy-Lee and Zoe.

The team did an absolutely fabulous job representing the college with pride. Jenna and Shaan were able to pitch and catch each game, never once needing a break. We had some fabulous hitting by Amy-Lee and Georgia who managed to score runs in our tight games. Sasha, Cherry and Coline proved to be an excellent team playing 1st, 2nd and right field. Many outs were taken on this side of the diamond. Gabi took two amazing catches in the outfield while Mieka and Devanshi were able to steal bases and score. Overall it was a fabulous day. Thank you to Zoe (Year 10) who was assisting with coaching, scoring and managing the team.

Year 8 Interschool Soccer

This year on 8th June, for interschool soccer, Glen Eira College took three teams to compete against other schools; two boys' teams (A team, B team) and a girls' team. The boys' B team tried their best but unfortunately came last. They lost to every team but they worked very well as a team and made some nice plays during the competition. The girls team did very well and made it to the final, winning most of their matches and showed immense skill, teamwork and agility but unfortunately lost to Yavneh College after winning their first two games. The boys A team came out on top and won the whole competition without a single loss. The boys had to overcome some tough challenges winning in the last minute against Albert Park College and coming back to level the scores against Elwood College. In conclusion is was a very exciting and fun day for everybody who came, with one of the three teams winning through to the region final and the girls team doing extremely well.  Hopefully the boys A team will do well next round.
