Health and PE at

Hackham East Primary School

Term 1 provides an abundance of opportunities for students to represent our school in Onkaparinga District and School Sport SA tournaments. The events we will be represented in this term include District Athletics, Swimming, Girls Football and Softball. Over the past three weeks all Primary students have trialed for the District Athletics team in each event as part of their PE program.

District Trials and After School Sports

Congratulations to Madison Nieass for winning selection into the Onkaparinga District South Tennis team to compete at the State Carnival later this term.

A noble effort to Jason Lee being our only student to attend the District Swimming Carnival. Overcoming immense nerves on the morning and considering quitting, Jason used our school values of Courage to face his nerves and compete in all the events he entered.

Although he did not win, he has proven to himself that he has the courage not to run away from things he finds difficult; an important life skill.

Cross Country

Training for the District Cross Country has been underway this past fortnight with record numbers committing to attend the early morning training sessions twice each week. It is pleasing to see senior students including runners in the 13 year bracket that have never participated in Cross Country attending the training.

All students that commit to training, try their personal best and maintain our high standards of learning and behaviour at school will be selected to represent Hackham East on Thursday 2/4 at Old Noarlunga Primary School.

We will require parent transport to and from the event and supervision on the day. All volunteers providing transport will need a Police clearance. Please inform Mr Amoroso or Mrs Martin and the school will arrange for one to be processed.

It is imperative that this is organised well in advance of the carnival.

Football

Our Girls Football team will compete in the Crows Cup at Hackham Hawks Oval on Wednesday 1/4. Notes have been sent home with the first students returning the forms to be selected.

As part of our student voice, we put to our students which sports they would like to enter teams into. We are considering entering a boys football team in the knockout competition this year but require a commitment from 18 Yr  6/7 boys to play.

Soccer

Soccer will be offered again in Terms 2 and 3, at present we have thirteen students using their School Sports Vouchers to attend the soccer clinics offered in Term 1. Remember to make use of your school sports voucher with $100.00 offered towards paying for clinics or club sport fees.

Golf

Registrations for entry for individuals into the SAPSASA golf tournament will open on Tuesday 31/3 and be completed at www.golf.org.au.
