S A K Garden

Liz Scott- Stephanie Alexander Garden Specialist

It’s that time of year when our garden might look like it isn’t doing much at all. In actual fact it’s a hive of activity, we are harvesting our broad beans and garlic and the beetroot will be coming out this week.

Over the next couple of weeks, our beds will look quite bare. We are in the process of clearing the beds, topping them up with our compost and allowing them to sit before we plant them out for next year. Our seedlings are looking beautiful in the greenhouse waiting patiently for their new home.

Our girls are delivering beautiful eggs and the students really enjoy caring for them. They enjoy catching them at the end of class and putting them back in their enclosure. Having chickens out at class time enriches the children's lives, it enables those who may not have a pet, the opportunity to care and interact with an animal. Working outside in the garden is a huge part of well being, it calms the soul, it works the muscles and we are out in the fresh air.
