RYDA Program for Young Drivers

On Wednesday February 27 a large group of year 11 students travelled across to Yanco to participate in the RYDA program for young drivers. Getting behind the wheel of a car as a young driver or being a young passenger with a young driver are said to be among the most dangerous things that a person will do in their entire life.

The aim of the day was to take steps to ensure these young adults have the tools and understanding to see themselves as active, responsible road citizens and make the necessary choices to keep themselves and others safe on the road. The students participated in 6 sessions that aimed to increase awareness of risks involved, how to make good choices as a road user and to improve understanding of the responsibilities that go along with being in control of a motor vehicle.

The day was informative, engaging and at times confronting. Many of the students commented that it had been very worthwhile and hopefully they all take with them a more informed outlook on what is involved when in control of a motor vehicle.
