Prayer of Saint Teresa of Avila

Christ has no body but yours No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which He looks Compassion on the world, Yours are the feet with which He walks to do good, Yours are the hands, with which He blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, Yours are the eyes, you are His body. Christ has no body now but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which He looks compassion on this world. Christ has no body now on earth but yours .

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

The College community once again had a busy time over the past week, commencing with our Opening Mass last Friday which was followed by our Youth Mass last Sunday.  It was a pleasure to see so many students and staff join together to seek God’s blessing on our year. I mentioned to those present on Friday that the work we do is God’s work. We are the face of Christ to each other and to ask for God’s blessing is only fitting.

Next week is Catholic Schools Week and a promotional display will be on show at Griffith Central . If you are down there, please take a look. Connected to the  focus on Catholic Schools, the College  is holding an Open Day on Monday 4 March and  on Tuesday evening Year 7 2020 Enrolment Information will take place, commencing with a tour of facilities at 6pm. Those interested in either event, can contact our office for details.

Finally, the week has been confronting and disturbing for Catholics and the community at large with Cardinal Pell being convicted of sexual abuse charges. I offer my prayers for all victims of child abuse. And finish with a statement by Archbishop Mark Coleridge.

Peace and Best Wishes

STATEMENT FROM ARCHBISHOP MARK COLERIDGE,

PRESIDENT OF THE AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONFERENCE

The news of Cardinal George Pell’s conviction on historical child sexual abuse charges has shocked many across Australia and around the world, including the Catholic Bishops of Australia.

The Bishops agree that everyone should be equal under the law, and we respect the Australian legal system. The same legal system that delivered the verdict will consider the appeal that the Cardinal’s legal team has lodged. Our hope, at all times, is that through this process, justice will be served.

In the meantime, we pray for all those who have been abused and their loved ones, and we commit ourselves anew to doing everything possible to ensure that the Church is a safe place for all, especially the young and the vulnerable.

Peace and Best Wishes
