Student Leaders 2018
Congratulations to all the 2018 Student Leaders.
Year 12 ATAR Examinations
Our Year 12 students begin their final ATAR examinations next Wednesday. These will be held in the Thomas More Exhibition Centre (TMEC) in the morning and afternoon. The ATAR examinations continue until 21 November.
If using the carpark in front of the TMEC for after school pick-up please be courteous of the students completing examinations. The afternoon examinations begin at 2:00pm and so any noise after school should be minimised to provide our students with the best possible environment to maximise their achievement in these final examinations.
I would ask for everyone’s support with this matter.

Hackathon
On Friday 13 October and the following Saturday, 17 Magis students attended a Hackathon at All Saints’ College in Bullcreek, along with several other schools. The task for the students was to hack to Education system. In short, the students had to reinvent the way schools operate and to better cater for the ways that students learn.
Our students were separated and placed into random teams along with students from other schools. The unfamiliar team members had to collaborate to democratically work out their solution. The discussions were vigorous and impassioned as the students learnt to listen to others and then work upon a clear and reasonable agreed position. The teams also had to sample and question the members of other teams to provide evidence for positions.
On the Saturday the various teams had to create a presentation and deliver it to a panel of judges that were associated with the education field. All of the pitches were of a very high standard but the judges narrowed it down to four teams. Natalie Ong’s team placed in the top group with Adelio Kilcullen’s team placing first with their idea to use Virtual Reality to teach students.
