Around The Primary

Dear Parents

The Junior Primary Sports Carnival was held yesterday. Our younger students have enjoyed practising the team games, as well as training for their running race and hurdle event.

We had a tremendous turnout of parents and grandparents to cheer the students along – thank you for joining us. The children should be very proud of their efforts. It was fantastic to see every student trying their very best and the children should be very proud of their efforts.

Our carnivals are such a success as we have a combination of great parent support, hard-working staff and children who genuinely try their best. A special thank you to Mr Alderman for all his hard work in preparing for this event. A special thank you to Mr Alderman for his hard work in preparing for this event.

Well done to Miss Nish and 4B for preparing today’s very informative and entertaining assembly item.

Our staff put their heart and soul into their planning and preparation to ensure your delightful children have the best possible experiences at school. Special thanks to the parent community for providing the lovely morning tea today in recognition of World Teachers’ Day. It was a lovely way to acknowledge all our staff and to say thank you for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms, playgrounds and community.

Kind Regards

STEM

Year 6 students had an enjoyable afternoon last Friday completing the final testing stage of their STEM projects on balloon powered cars. Students worked collaboratively in groups to test and record distances for three different types of car wheels on a variety of selected surfaces.

ALL THINGS JAPANESE

On Friday 20 October, the Year 3 classes visited the Hyogo Cultural Centre.  The students were immersed in a variety of activities to learn about Japan. The theme of the day was based on the upcoming festival of ‘shichi’ (7), ‘go’ (5), ‘san’ (3) which celebrates the children of these ages is on November 15.

Mao, a university student from Japan dressed up several students in the kimono, yukata and happi coat. Students also learnt about the art of chigirie which is a form of collage using small pieces of ripped up paper. They made their own chigirie to take home. Students also wrote to numbers 7 -5-3 in Japanese using the calligraphy brushes.

To finish the day, students were able to pack their own obentoo to enjoy for lunch.
