Instrumental and vocal music lessons

Instrumental and Vocal Music lessons for Weeks 3 and 4 will remain unchanged as per the existing timetables. Over this time, some tutors may find it more practical to return to the College to teach students face to face as more students are at school. Lessons through MS Teams will continue for students who are still at home. Some tutors will continue delivering online lessons from home.

From Monday, 25 May, instrumental and vocal music lessons will return to being delivered face to face from the College. Lessons through MS Teams will cease from this date. If there is a tutor who is unable to return to face to face teaching due to being unwell or vulnerable, parents/guardians will be contacted and alternate arrangements made.

Parents/Guardians will receive updated Term 2 timetables for Weeks 5-10 via email from Mrs Katherine Freind, Performing Arts Admin Assistant, on Friday, 22 May.

If you are currently not on the timetable and wish to resume lessons face to face, please make direct contact with your tutor as soon as possible. If you have not yet made payment or organised a payment plan with your tutor for lessons up to the end of the term, please do so by NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, 21 MAY to avoid withdrawal from the timetable.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email at cbeins@norbert.wa.edu.au

The Sound of Music production

Making considerations of both the current and potential situations, which include restrictions on gatherings as well as social distancing rules that seem to be in play for the foreseeable future, the College Leadership Team and the Production team have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 College musical production of The Sound of Music.

With so many uncertainties surrounding attendance, the nature and number of rehearsals and whether performances could go ahead, we feel that this is the best option to take to provide some clarity for both students and parents.  We understand that this comes with great disappointment for the whole College community and for this we sincerely apologise.

We thank the cast again for all the work that they have put into the show so far and we hope that they will have fond memories of the rehearsal period.                                                 Miss K Hilton (Sound of Music Director)

Ms Hilton takes out top national teaching honour

St Norbert College is fortunate to have among its staff a dual award recipient from the recent Performing Arts Teachers Association National Awards. The much-loved Ms Hilton, who has been teaching at the College for more than 35 years, was announced winner of both the Cornerstone Award and the Outstanding Mentor Award, demonstrating her passion, dedication and expertise in the field of Drama. She was recognised for the exceptional work she does with her students both in the classroom and through co-curricular clubs, productions and performances, as well as her work with the Independent Theatre Association of WA for over 20 years.

Miss Hilton was featured on Page 1 of the local newspaper this month and also attracted scores of comments and hundreds of 'likes' from past students on the shared article on the College Facebook page.

We are so very proud of her achievements and we thank her whole-heartedly for the excellent work that she continues doing in passing on her love for theatre to young people. Well done Miss Hilton!
