Join Your Local Library

On 24 March, I direct-messaged all parents and carers regarding local public libraries' loosening their registration rules to allow people to join online while libraries were closed.  Since there are a tremendous number of free eResources available to library members it was an ideal time to enrol your son or daughter.  With the announcement of the Phase 2 of WA’s four-phase roadmap to economic recovery, public libraries are permitted to reopen.

This means parents and students who enrolled online will need to visit their local library to complete the formal registration. Your library will ask for identification containing proof you live in WA, your full name and current address.

If you have any questions, just contact the Library listed in your Shire or City.

Benefits

If you register your child, and this applies to other members of your household, they will have access to

  • eBooks & eAudio books
  • eMagazines
  • eResources - ie variety of children, teens and adult databases The databases are especially beneficial for Years 10 -12 students
  • eSafety Resources
  • Kanopy – Free video streaming of documentaries, movies and Indie films

I am sharing this information in good faith. As the resources available through public libraries cover a wide range of types, issues, cultures and viewpoints you will need to be mindful of your child’s borrowing habits. This is especially true of Kanopy. If you have any access problems please contact the libraries directly.
