Sports Wrap Up  

Swimming

Recently five talented young swimmers from WWHS swam in the North West swimming trials at Armidale.  Each student put in an enormous effort and they were each rewarded with great results including;

 

Acacia Bell - 15yrs - 3rd in 50m freestyle, 3rd in 100 freestyle

Jackson Humphries - 12 yrs - 1st in the 100m breaststroke.

Lucy Crutcher, 14yrs - 11th in the 100m freestyle, 6th 50m freestyle

Angus Galagher, 16yrs - 9th in 50m free style

Megan Crutcher, 12yrs - 5th in 50m freestyle, 2nd in 100m backstroke

 

The highlights included Lucy Crutcher and Angus Galagher swimming personal best times in their events while Acacia Bell, Jackson Humphries and Megan Crutcher were selected to swim in Sydney.

 

‘Every team member did an outstanding job and we are grateful to their families for taking them to Armidale for the trials.  The school is extremely proud of their results.’ said sports and physical education teacher, Mr Patrick Legge.

Touch Football

Domonic Cruickshank and Alisha Conomos last week attended the North West Touch Football Trials in Inverell.  Both players did a terrific job and performed well.  Alisha made it through to the Under 15s girl's team which will play in Woollongong in May.

Cricket

Congratulations must also go to Dylan Smith of Year 10 who was recently selected to play for the NSW Country Thunder cricket team in the Under 16s NSW State Cricket Challenge in April. If successful, from there it is on to the under 17s National Challenge.  Locally, Dylan plays for the Wee Waa Razor Backs and will play his last game of the season this weekend.

Netball

Congratulations to our terrific under 15s netball team who went head-to-head with Coonabarabran recently. It was a tough game with WWHS being narrowly beaten with a final score of 26/24. Well played ladies
