Year 8 Course and Career Planning

The year 8 students will be attending a Course & Career planning workshop on Wednesday the 16th  October.  The transition from year 8 into year 9 is an important transition for our students with the students having a great range of subject choice and therefore it is important we support the students to chose wisely.  The college will expose the students to wide range of opportunities and is proud to announce the involvement of of range of key stakeholders.

The workshop will include:

  • Presentation by Kim Stadmiller Executive Director from Local Learning and Employment Network
  • Presentation from Outer Northern Trade Training Centre
  • Presentation from Foundation for Youth Australia (FYA) a renown youth focused research organisation focus on future world of work
  • A range of Career goals and course planning activities

Students in year 8 explore the influence that a positive self-image and good learning habits have on occupational choice. They research a wide range of occupational profiles to examine the nature of the work, the personal attributes and skills necessary to perform the tasks, and the required entry-level education and training.

Students use their occupational knowledge to investigate a  range of occupations that contribute to their community and develop an awareness of the opportunities available.
