Showing RESPECT at ECSC

One of the main focus areas for this term in Year 7 and 8 has centred around our value of Respect All. Communities are more harmonious when people are respectful and empathetic towards each other. ‘Respect is the glue that holds our relationships together’. It is through valuing each other and openly listening to develop understanding, that we continue to build respect in our learning community at Edgars Creek Secondary College.

Receiving respect from others is important because it helps us to feel safe and to express ourselves.

Being respected by important people in our lives growing up teaches us how to be respectful toward others.

Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with them.

Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing.

Respect doesn’t have to come naturally – it is something you learn!

How do we demonstrate respect at ECSC?

Speaking to each other respectfully and politely.

Show empathy and appreciation for each other.

Greet, speak to and treat each other in a friendly, polite way and use names.

Respect personal space

Social Media - Post appropriate images, status updates and comments.

“Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given”
