DRAMA

Year 9 Drama

On the 18th of November, Ms Marron’s Year nine class got the fantastic opportunity to take a trip to Altona to meet the students of Bayside college to script and perform a show, and they were all so grateful for Ms Gibson driving them there. The students were given a day to create the performance based on the subject of mental health and common thinking errors, and Ms Gibson also helped in explaining these areas.

In small groups together the Bayside and Brighton students scripted small vignettes to display these common thinking errors, spoke about mental health statistics and then prepared a song at the end of the performance to wrap it up.

I interviewed the students about the experience and made a video about it to show other students at the college.

The students absolutely loved this experience and most mentioned it was the highlight of this semester in Drama for them. For the students, it was “great to interact with Bayside and work with people they hadn’t met before, and it was a very positive experience.”

The students were very enthusiastic when talking about the experience, saying they can “confidently say this was an incredible experience.” They also mentioned it “pushed them out of their comfort zones,” and that they met some great new friends who they have stayed in touch with since.
