PEAC Testing

Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) testing for Year 4 students will take place in Week 5 Tuesday 20th August.  The scores from the test will be used in the selection of students for PEAC courses and extension programs during 2020.

The PEAC program provides part-time extension and enrichment for exceptionally able students in Years 5 and 6.

Parents of year 4 students are requested to notify the school in writing by 3.00pm on Friday 16th August if they do not wish their child to be included in the PEAC Assessment.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Lessons Underway  Ask your child this week what behaviour expectation they learned in class!

The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) curriculum for our Responsibility Expectation started in classrooms last week. The first behaviour taught was ‘Own my Actions’, from the ‘Everywhere, Every time’ row inside the Behaviour Matrix. Students watched videos of the Yes and No examples ‘expertly’ acted out by staff at our Pupil Free day on the 22nd July. All classrooms will now have one PBS lesson a week that links directly with the matrix. We look forward to seeing students display these behaviours Everywhere and Every time.

What’s in the Behaviour Matrix? The 4R’s - Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Reach,  make up our 4 Expectations. Under these 4R’s inside the Matrix, are the behaviours we are asking for feedback about. The locations where we expect to see these behaviours are Everywhere/Every time, Inside and Outside*.

Each one of these behaviours will form a lesson, providing students, staff, and parents with a language and a clear understanding of what each behaviour is for Burrendah Primary School.

*Inside is within a building such as a classroom, library, toilet block or wet area… Outside is outside a building such as the undercover area, oval, pathways, outside rooms, playgrounds.

Can you assist us to achieve our goal?

In 2020 the ANZAC Day theme will be the significance of the Poppy. To highlight the poppy, we are going to create a Poppy Wall as the backdrop in the undercover area. Spotlight has provided assistance with red and black yarn to commence our Poppy Wall but we need assistance from the Burrendah Community. We would be very grateful for donations of red and black 8ply yarn, acrylic or wool is suitable. If you can assist, please bring any donations to Reception.

If you can knit or crochet would you be available to help create poppies? We will provide you with patterns and yarn to help us create the Poppy Wall. Please come and see Mrs Horoch at Reception if you can assist with our venture.

Our goal is to make at least 1000 poppies for 2020 and then to add to this number in 2021 and beyond.

Thank you to families and friends who have begun our goal to reach 1000 poppies. Our current total is 236.
