Art News

All classes have been completing modeling and construction projects involving various skills, techniques and processes. These ‘hands on’ projects are great for developing fine motor skills and help students to learn about patience, persistence and creative problem solving.

Year 1  students have been using recycled materials and plaster bandage to construct bird sculptures based on the artist Barbara Kobylinska.  They have carefully painted their sculptures and are now ready to add finishing details!

Year 2 students have been designing and creating fun and colourful clay pinch pot monsters. Students were asked to create and design a monster, make a practice version from playdough and create a ‘final version’ from clay.

Year 3 students have used recycled materials (including the bottles from the colour run!) to make cat sculptures inspired by Laurel Burch.  Most classes have finished applying the paper mache clay to the armature (framework) and are ready to paint!

Year 4 students have been learning about clay and making clay bobble-head pets.  Some very adorable and creative outcomes!

Year 5 students have looked at the artist Wayne Theibaud and have created clay pinch pot cupcakes.  They look delicious!

Year 6 students have just finished painting and varnishing their clay pinch pot Dragons which were inspired by the beautiful illustrations in the book ‘Dragonology’
