Swimming Lessons

As many of you are aware the 50 metre pool is currently not available. Children who would usually have lessons in this pool are completing 20 minutes of ‘dry’ activities that are a part of their curriculum. We are confident that the 50 metre pool will be open for our student use by Monday’s lessons at the latest. I am very proud of all of our students both at the pool and when they are travelling to the venue. Pleasingly we were able to have 96 percent of our Year 1-Year 6 students able to attend swimming lessons.

Burrendah Primary School Local Intake Area

Our substantial increase in enrolments has put pressure on our school resources such as classrooms. In the past, we had the capacity to accommodate children from outside our local intake area under a ‘first priority’ which meant we could accept siblings of students into our Pre-primary and Kindergarten classes whose family no longer resided in our local intake area. We no longer have the accommodation capacity to accept such enrolments. I have contacted all families who this affects who have applied for enrolment in 2020 and spoken with them personally. As always the Department of Education will consider extenuating circumstances. This is done through an appeals process. Acceptance or decline of enrolment letters for 2020 will be sent out by post early next week.

2020 Classes

By next Friday the 16th August, I need to submit our expected 2020 student numbers. If you are aware your child will not be returning to Burrendah Primary School next year please contact Reception on 9266 6200 or email burrendah.ps@education.wa.edu.au  This excludes Year 6 students who will be leaving Burrendah to go to their local high school.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

There is one day left for parents to get their vote in for our Behaviour Expectations. Voting can be done at the front office. Each expectation has a choice of two designs.

New Shed

Our new shed is getting closer to completion. Works were delayed due to rain. We are looking forward to having the shed ready for our next assembly so our assembly equipment is easy to collect and put away.
