FROM THE PRINCIPAL

TERM 3 - WEEK 8
A huge congratulations to our Tournament of the Minds team (Cruz Hamlin, Alyssa Downey, Lachie O’Mullane, Lilian Crichton, Ethan Wheeler, Jessica Jarrett and Lachie Roach) who competed at the state final in Sydney last weekend. They were up against some very talented teams and placed an 'unofficial third'. The skills and creativity the students learn in a challenge such as this will assist them for the rest of their lives. A big thank you to Liz Ibbetson for all her work preparing the students and supporting them in Sydney.
Thank you to all the families who supported our Family Mass last Sunday. As a parish school it is important that we come together to celebrate our faith and join together as a community in prayer. A special thank you to the parents of Year 1 and Year 5 for providing a lovely morning tea.
It is great to see that the weather is finally warming up. Students are to remain in winter uniform for Term 3. Students may wear summer uniform from the first day of Term 4 and it is expected that by week 3 next Term all students will be in summer uniform. Could I ask parents to ensure that their children have the correct earrings, “gold or silver plain studs” and ribbons and scrunchies school colours only.
As I have mentioned previously, planning for the 2019 school year is well underway. The Catholic Schools Office requires each school to send in student projection numbers. Using this data the CSO then determine staffing levels. Could I ask any families who may be relocating to let the school know as soon as possible so that this can be taken into consideration as we plan for next year.
Famous American inventor Thomas Edison once said, “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10 000 ways that don’t work.” This is the type of attitude we want our students to have with their learning so they develop a “growth mindset”. People with a growth mindset focus on learning, they are more resilient and will continue to achieve and succeed.
