FROM THE PRINCIPAL

TERM 1 - WEEK 1
I feel an overwhelming sense of honour to pen my first address as Principal of St Nicholas Primary School.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2019 school year. A particularly warm welcome to our new students, staff and families. I trust you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas, New Year and January.
I was lucky enough on Tuesday to stand at the front gate and welcome our Year 1-6 students. The broad smiles and sense of excitement from each of our children reminded me of the very privileged position we hold. Thank you for trusting us to educate your children!
With the staff returning on Tuesday I had the opportunity to address them briefly on our school and my vision for the future. St Nicholas is a wonderful school and it was easy to articulate the many areas we can be so very proud of. My role however, is to lead and work alongside a very capable team in demanding continued improvement, to ensure St Nicholas becomes an even better school.
There are many drivers for school improvement, some significantly more successful than others. At St Nicholas we will achieve significant improvement through constantly increasing the capacity of an already strong staff. At St Nicholas we are building a culture where staff learning is viewed on an equal threshold to student learning. How do we seek further improvement in student learning? By further increasing the capacity of our staff to teach and lead the learning of our students!
I wish you all every success in the coming year and let’s work together to make 2019 at St Nicholas School the best year yet!
