Chinese New Year Celebration

This year during the celebration of Chinese New Year, we prepared many festive activities for students from Year 7 to Year 12, the activities include: watching Chinese New Year videos, learning Chinese songs, making each other hong bao (red envelope) to send new year wishes, cooking and eating dumplings, researching and presenting Chinese New Year cultural aspects etc.

Students had a great time doing the activities as well as learning about Chinese culture. We hope everyone has had a good start into the new year – Year of the Pig! 新年快乐!HAPPY NEW YEAR!

STUDENT REFLECTION

During Tuesday's lesson, our Year 10 Chinese class had a celebratory lunch for Chinese New Year. We had dumplings and we also handed out red packets and wished each other nice wishes and messages for the year to come. It was really enjoyable to spend time with my peers and Tian lao shi during this special time of year whilst eating great food. Thank you Tian lao shi! :)

ITALIAN CELEBRATIONS

La Festa Delle Donne

If you’re in Italy in early March, March 8 you may notice yellow mimosa flowers, well, everywhere! These flowers are given to women in honour of la Festa delle Donne (International Women’s Day), which also comes with other perks for women—like, often, free entrance into some national museums and attractions.

FUN FACT

Italy is home to Europe’s only three active volcanoes: Etna, Stromboli and Vesuvius.
