Transition Program

It was great to meet our new students for 2022 this week. The Year 10 students did two short tests relating to their reading and numeracy skills whilst they were here. These tests have provided us with information about their learning strengths and challenges in these areas. We thank the students for their participation in these tests.  This information is very valuable to us and will help us better meet their needs from the very beginning of next year.

Year 11 and 12 Transition students were exposed to Plant Production with Mrs Day on Tuesday.  They ventured out of the classroom and down to Horticulture where they took a quick bridging course on plant anatomy and function, sexual and asexual plant reproduction, stem cuttings and potted up their own pot of lavender and rosemary. Students then went hunting for pests and beneficial bugs around the vegetable patches and got their hands dirty when they performed a soil ribboning test to assess the soil texture and soil type.  These groups of Transition students all worked fantastically together, showing a lot of interest, knowledge and enthusiasm and we hope they are all looking forward to Class in 2022.

2022 Class Books and Resources

Parents and carers are asked to ensure they carefully read and act upon the Booklists that they have received. It is critically important that students have the text books and equipment they need at the very beginning of the year. This will ensure a smooth start and means all students can make the most of their learning opportunities. Due to copy-write restrictions staff are not permitted to photocopy text books for students who haven’t managed to get theirs organised.

I would also ask parents to ensure students have a suitable BYOD computer and they  have access to the required Microsoft programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint etc).  They also need to have a suitable battery life, as students are not allowed to charge their computers during Class. Information was sent home about these requirements, but if you have further questions please contact the College.

Thank you Parents and Carers

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents  and carers who have been so supportive of the College and in particular the Class staff this year. It is fantastic that we can work together to maximise student achievement.

Thank you Staff

I would like to thank all the staff, especially the Class staff for the enormous effort they have put in this year. Their dedication to improving outcomes for the students is to be commended.  Whilst staff still have two more weeks of reviewing and planning for next year and will be conducting work placement visits, I hope they will all enjoy their well-earned summer break when it arrives!

Season’s Greetings

On behalf of the Class staff, I would like to wish students, parents and fellow staff at the College, a happy and safe festive season. We look forward to working with all of you again next year.
